Mmmmm...tastes like..Blogging...

This blog is in the middle of a restructuring, and a focusing. Will it be about my baking projects?? Will it be about my life as a student? Who knows??

Yeah...it's been a while...

So, obviously I haven't posted for a while. Much has changed in my life relatively quickly, and some of you probably don't even know about it yet. I'm sure I'll post another time with the whole story (or maybe not), but for now, a quick summary. I moved back to Colorado Springs to go work for the Ark again. I'm BACK!

So anyways, I'm off today, after a looooonng weekend of work. I wish I had taken a before and after picture of myself so I could see the change over the weekend of working. I'm back in my old cabin with the youngest boys, and it REALLY needs work. I got my butt kicked at work this weekend. Literally. I worked a single shift on Saturday and a double on Sunday, and needless to say, today, I am not doing ANYTHING. I literally spent all day yesterday either in restraints with kids, or tracking kids who were running all over campus without permission. But, you know, it's been a good 6 months or so since I felt as fulfilled as I did last night, when I finally dragged myself home, covered in mud, wet, bruised and scratched up. I feel like I did something worthwhile yesterday. I kept kids safe. I was a positive influence in the lives of kids who have been hurt and exploited by adults for their whole lives.

I have to say, after being away from the Ark for a while, and then coming back, it kind of feels like I'm coming home to family. My first couple days back felt like a homecoming. As I was in the main building the first day, filling out paperwork, the CEO of the company came down from his office, and gave me a big hug and said, "We are SO glad to have you back." Then, a couple minutes later, the owner came walking by and said "Sarah, is that an application you're filling out? Are you coming back to us? We are SO blessed to have you back!" Ok, so maybe I'm bragging a little bit, but it feels really good to know that I work for people who value me like that and recognize the good work that I do. And the people I work with, really bond together like a family. Several of my coworkers have come up to me and said, "If there's anything at all that I can do to help you out with your move back, please let me know." Anyway, it feels good, and I'm happy to be back.

More later.
